The weight on their shoulders is not because they are male, are the (only) breadwinner but because they never learned to team-up with their partner.
You have spoken my mind, only if men keep their egos aside and talk to her wife like a friend, things would have been different and light weighted.
Their weight is heavy because they refuse to share, too much egos around like a cheap chanel bag.
