Sketch: Monastery on Patmos Island　素描：帕特莫斯岛1

My sketch of the Monastery on Patmos Island. Patmos is a tiny Greek island just off the Turkey coast in the Aegean Sea. It has a very typical Greek towns, and one of the most outstanding feature is the Monastery on top of the hill. The monastery was built almost one thousand years ago, and was built like a fortress, with high stone walls on all four sides. This was done on purpose: to defend itself against the pirates roaming around at that time. When it come to money & profits, nothing can protect you and stop the bad guys, not even religion. The pirates had no fear of God. This is the power of wealth. Even today, wealth drives people to do the extremes just to make more and more money. What is life for? Work hard, play hard? What do you gain in the end?
我的素描：帕特莫斯岛(又称拔摩岛)修道院。帕特莫斯是爱琴海土耳其海岸附近的一个小希腊岛屿。它有非常典型的希腊城镇，其中最显眼的特色就是山顶上的修道院。这座修道院大约一千年前建成，建造得像堡垒一样，四面都是高高的石墙。这样做的目的是为了防御当时在海上游荡的海盗。在赚钱和利润当前，没有什么可以保护你，阻止坏人的侵害，甚至宗教也不能。海盗们不怕上帝。这是财富的魔力。即使在今天，财富也会驱使人们为了赚更多的钱而做极端的事情。什么是生命？努力工作然后使劲玩？你最终获得了什么？
