Which is a Better Medium: Movies or Television?

Movies and Television are both staples of modern entertainment, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. At the end of the day, which is a superior way to tell stories?

Television is better at long form stories with drawn out plots, but often falls prey to watered down plotlines and side-plots, and directionless, drawn-out arcs in it's later seasons that often end the often years of audience investment with disappointing endings that praise mediocrity and the status quo.

Movies are great for telling exciting, high tension stories with world-altering consequences (even if the "world" in question is merely the main characters). But all too often there's a feeling that the story could have gone deeper if only it had had more time to develop.
