RE: Travel with me #106 : South Village 44, Taipei!

in #dlive7 years ago (edited)

Settlers isolated themselves from the rest of society and developed their own cultural defaults. For many decades, the military villages had their own social systems which in practice were brought over from China. As they say, birds of a feather, flock together and this certainly applied to the two distinct groups of people sharing Taiwan.

I'm not surprised about this. I watched a documentary on YouTube which explained this phenomenon. I can't vividly remember the title of the documentary, but it had something to do with Juan Cun and Taiwan.

It's nice to see you describing the story and history so well, painting a clearer picture and image on our minds and giving me more knowledge about this fact. Your travelogues are always epic. Great content!.

The Taipei 101 is a five minute walk away from South Village 44 so I would recommend visiting both on the same day.

I'm currently planning a travelogue and I've got the place I wanna visit all laid out in my diary. Most of the places were gotten from your post and I deem it fit to visit them - mostly because of the culture, environment and the beautiful scenery.

I've just added Taipei 101 too and I hope that'll visit it soon and tell my own story. Sounds fun to me.
Infact, I wanna visit and explore Taiwan and see how it looks like over there.
I have a Tawainase friend on Telegram and he tells me Taiwan is awesome!.

Thanks @sweetsssj for this awesome post. I tell you what? I've learnt a lot and oh! I'm still digesting the beautiful pictures you shared. They're spectacular and wonderful.
Am I free to use it as my desktop wallpaper?

Thanks for sharing this well written and laid out post. A lot of people will benefit from it in so many ways and I think you're the first to post something of this nature on steemit.

And oh!! Thanks for making me hungry lol

enolife, thanks for going through my post with a fine comb, i'm glad it was interesting enough to warrant you taking it in with such detail! I think the whole place is fascinating particularly from a historical point of view. We often forget about the very real and raw details of how people actually lived when they came over from mainland, often skipping over the fact that there were logistical and practical considerations in housing over a million people in a completely new place, mostly unwelcoming of them. This is just one little clue to a much bigger set of questions.

Do visit Taipei, it's such a wonderful place with so much to offer in terms of food, culture, history etc. I'm visiting quite frequently these days!

Of course, you are free to use any of the images as your wall paper! :)
