Launch of first iPhone with next generation network technology could be delayed by months, according to reports

Apple may delay the launch of its first 5G iPhone as coronavirus threatens smartphone sales and buckle the company’s supply chain, according to reports.

The $1tn company has held discussions over whether it should push back the launch by months, the Nikkei Asian Review claimed on Wednesday

Originally scheduled for September, supply chain sources say practical hurdles like lack of factory workers due to quarantining and delivery of parts might scupper the unveiling of its much hyped handset.

Apple is also allegedly concerned that the current economic and health situation might lead consumers to delay plans to upgrade their phones.
