Before the advent of big data and analytics, counterintelligence agencies concentrated on the collective and defensive counterintelligence. But now, with access to new technologies such as big data and analytics, counter intelligence agencies are equipped to provide offensive counterintelligence services.
Weaponizing fake data to gain business advantage would be one example of offensive counterintelligence.
