DIY - Urban Gardening - Our Moringa - Week 4 - Honolulu Hawaii
This is nearing the end of Week 4 of our Moringa Plant experiment. The two we took to the Big Island died. We planted those two in the ground in our plot and I am thinking the problem with that was that the Cucumber and Tomato ran it over.
These three that are growing in the pots are doing well. Once they get a little bigger we will not only transplant them but also try to eat some of the leaves.
We are very curious to see if the effects of this plant are as good as people say.
The Moringa is a tree that will grow as high as 40 feet.
Every part of the Moringa can be used:
- the leaves can be eaten raw in salads
- the plant also produces seed pods which normally grow after the first year. These can also be eaten.
- the roots are similar to horseradish and can be used as such.
- the oil extracted from the pods and also be used for various purposes
We can't wait until this plant gets bigger.
