first there was muscle power (human and animal)
then mechanization (wind, water, steam, oil, nukes) all controlled DIRECTLY by human minds
(at one time the word 'computer' meant a person who could do math really good)
then automation which cut down on the math some
then expert systems....which cut down on the day to day use of math quite a lot. Which are what the idiot journalists call AI.
I suspect that human equivalent (self aware) AI cannot exist...at least not for quite some time
but that doesn't mean that human augmentation cannot.
direct neural computer interface....I want one.
I saw one being demonstrated the other night, it was pretty crappy.
