on Thousands of Compounds in Oil

Plastic is made from Hydrocarbons (natural gas and oil)

  • The diet of the single-cell microbes is far more diverse than previously thought, Valentine said. “They ate around 1,000 of the 1,500 compounds we could trace, and presumably are eating many more,” he said.
Sort:

It is very striking, this situation that exists between the fact that the heavier the oil is, the more biodegradable it is, but the heavier has less commercial value; that is, the light crude oil that is the most requested by the market and easier to extract, is the one that least like this type of microorganisms. Well, at least one for Venezuela, because our biggest reserves are in heavy oil. Anyway, this is not the specific issue.
Equally impressive is also what these studies reveal in that we are talking about a large whole consortium of organisms, where some eat the oil and produce intermediate products, and then those intermediate products are converted by another group into natural gas.
Apparently, there is a large study platform around the function of all these unicellular organisms that contribute to maintain the equilibrium of the natural ecosystem; Now, the question is: where will the final results of these studies and their conclusions lead us? What will be the actions to follow? To what other activities, on the day of the human being, can the results of these studies be applied? Waste management? Well, for now it seems to me, that the first thing to do is not to touch the natural balance that exists at the seafloor between microorganisms and oil, not to alter the current conditions of the ecosystem, to protect it.

PERHAPS....the microorgasms convert oil to natural gas.
maybe.
In other news....the deepest gas well in the world (at one time) Anadarko Oklahoma...is a thousand miles form the sea.

Sorry, for confusion I put the previous comment in Spanish; In English would be the following: "Yes, from what I see, this is the largest production of natural gas in the USA, then, the production of natural gas from the microorganisms seems to have no comparison with the more than 27.5 trillion cubic feet of reserve, which were estimated in this basin for the year 2010 ... At such distances and immense depths the man can get the technology to meet their needs. "

Do you mean CH4?

seems more reasonable doesn't it?

it's... it's.... it's.... like evolution knows what it's doin'

Those microbes got to be rich men. They are feeding on the "liquid black gold damnn

Ok, the bacteria eat PET, but what do they excrete?

Kind of a personal question isn't it?

I was just willing to know if they eat plastic what will they excrete?
What ever they excrete may b in form plastic weste
May b or maynot b harmful to human being!?
Inhelation or intake of such weste my means of food or liquid in human body will lead to cause any disease?
I was just curious to know.. As i havent researched on it just read ur post and had random comment.. Ty

That's amazing research , thank-u @everittdmickey for sharing with us

Single cell microbes eating microscopic compounds...
Was this the model for PAC-MAN?

This is great article you shared @everittdmickey, hope this will help the environment. :)

I see that all the time. People spending time on their phone when they're supposed to be enjoying life with their family/friends. One of the reasons I was one of the last people I know to even get a cellphone lol
