It is very striking, this situation that exists between the fact that the heavier the oil is, the more biodegradable it is, but the heavier has less commercial value; that is, the light crude oil that is the most requested by the market and easier to extract, is the one that least like this type of microorganisms. Well, at least one for Venezuela, because our biggest reserves are in heavy oil. Anyway, this is not the specific issue.
Equally impressive is also what these studies reveal in that we are talking about a large whole consortium of organisms, where some eat the oil and produce intermediate products, and then those intermediate products are converted by another group into natural gas.
Apparently, there is a large study platform around the function of all these unicellular organisms that contribute to maintain the equilibrium of the natural ecosystem; Now, the question is: where will the final results of these studies and their conclusions lead us? What will be the actions to follow? To what other activities, on the day of the human being, can the results of these studies be applied? Waste management? Well, for now it seems to me, that the first thing to do is not to touch the natural balance that exists at the seafloor between microorganisms and oil, not to alter the current conditions of the ecosystem, to protect it.
PERHAPS....the microorgasms convert oil to natural gas.

In other news....the deepest gas well in the world (at one time) Anadarko Oklahoma...is a thousand miles form the sea.
