Steem Basic Income

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

Have You Visited Our Discord Lately?

Steem Basic Income has been on discord for a while now. You may have even dropped in for a question or two and then skipped out again. Maybe you're a quiet lurker there, waiting to help out with a query or ask a question of your own. But did you know that our Discord is full of helpful resources?

Language Channels

Helpful members have provided original FAQ translations in several different languages, and we just added #cesky! (Czech) These are listed at the bottom of this article, but there may be a few members who speak those languages available to help you in the member rooms.

Announcements and Updates

We publish all important announcements and updates on our profile, but these are also linked in the discord. Since Discord rooms load more quickly than profile pages on Steemit and other condensers, it can be much faster to scroll back through our update history there.

Help and Discussion channels

We're not super strict about what goes where and we answer questions in both #help and #general. If it's something easy or already explained, we may show you to the #read-me-first channel, which has our FAQ and other basic resources (all the articles explaining how things work are also listed at the bottom of this article under 'Helpful Reading').

Contests and Post Promotion

Anyone doing a contest with SBI enrollment units as prizes is free to list their contests in our discord. We build our twice-weekly contest list from there. If you're giving away SBI, be sure to list it in our Discord to improve your traffic from our existing member base that love to win more levels.
We also offer a post-promotion room, where you can support fellow SBI members and share your own Steem links. The post-promotion room is limited to existing members and requires @ginabot verification of your Steem account, but we have a #request-verification room to help with that.

Unit Level Rooms

There are exclusive rooms where you can talk to fellow members of similar levels. These range from 1-5 for people just getting their feet wet (or dropping in to better understand their new prize) all the way up to 40+ That room is full of dedicated members, and is a great place to chat about how you use SBI to support your other Steem initiatives.

The Daily Sneak

@thedailysneak is a curation initiative also run by @josephsavage. If you see a lot of good content on a regular basis and want to reward it on somebody else's bankroll, The Daily Sneak is for you. Anybody that wants can submit guest curation. If your curation is published, you get SBI for each article you highlight, and the article authors get SBI too. It's a great way to build your level when you're just starting out.
The latest @thedailysneak posts are shared in the discord, but you can also check whether there are other submissions queued up. When there are none, it's much easier to have your curation published- it just needs to meet a minimum quality threshold!

SBI Booster

You've seen @sbi-booster hanging around, answering questions on Steem, making snarky jokes when an !sbi status request gets answered twice, occasionally upvoting your comments on our posts. But did you know it also provides a little extra ON DEMAND boost? This is available to all members that have 40 or more unit levels and link their Steem & Discord accounts using @ginabot.

@sbi-booster has a curation trail (@thedailysneak follows it, @josephsavage follows it, and you can too) on @steemauto and also summons @drotto and @blissfish. Those accounts don't show up every time, but our level 40+ members can use this service once every 24 hrs. This a great feature of our discord, and a great reason to increase your unit level to 40 or more.

Plagiarism Reports

We talked last week about responsible upvoting. We use @steemcleaners and @buildawhale's blacklists, but if you still see SBI votes on something plagiarized, you can report those directly in the #reports channel in our discord. We will review the offending content and if we agree with your conclusions, add the author to our internal blacklist.

With so many resources available, we hope that you will drop in for a visit. Ask your questions, help out your fellow members, talk shop, check out the posts your fellow members are committed, maybe even get a few extra upvotes! Please be respectful of our admins and follow the rules, but we'd love to see you.

Enrollment

If you want to get involved, or to increase the level of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:

Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 unit in the program. You can sponsor any active Steemian (except for yourself), it does not have to be a current member.

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. If we choose to accept SBD without refunding it, you do not receive extra value for it.

Enrollments are processed automatically every 144 minutes. Confirmation transactions are still manual and typically are sent within 2-3 days. Even if you have not received a welcome transaction, you can check your status using !sbi status.
