| seit gestern bin ich in Riga, Lettland. Eigentlich besuche ich hier einen internationalen Kongress zur beruflichen Fortbildung. Nach der Anreise am Sonntag hatte ich Gelegenheit, zumindest noch kurz in die Stadt Riga zu gehen und einen Eindruck zu gewinnen. | Yesterday I arrived in Riga, Latvia. Acutally I am here in order to attend an international congress for advanced training. After arrival on Sunday I had the possibility for a short trip to the city center of Riga and get a first impression of the city. |

| Noch am Flughafen in Frankfurt, also vor dem Abflug, hatte ich das Glück, das Flugzeug der Lufthansa zu sehen, mit dem die deutsche Fußball-Nationalmannschaft vor wenigen Tagen nach Moskau zur Weltmeisterschaft geflogen ist. Leider saß ich nicht in dem Flugzeug drin. Aber ich denke, drinnen hätte man die Besonderheit gar nicht gesehen oder gespürt. Oder was denkt Ihr? Hattet Ihr schon Gelegenheit, mit dem Flugzeug zu fliegen? Gibt es drinnen Autogramme der Spieler? | When I watched out of the window at the airport in Frankfurt (before the flight), I was lucky to see the plane that was used to bring the players of the german national football team to the world cup in Moscow. Unfortunately I haven't been in the plane. But I think one couldn't have seen or felt the particularity inside the plane. What do you think? Have you already had the possibility to fly this this plane? Are the players' autographs inside? |
| Als ich in Riga angekommen bin, fiel zuerst auf, dass der Flughafen gegenüber dem Flughafen Frankfurt/Main sehr überschaubar wirkt. Keine große Hektik, kein großes Gerenne. Ein sehr angenehmens Ankommen in Riga. | When I arrived in Riga I realized at first that the Riga airport seems very clear, compared to the airport in Frankfurt/Main. No hectic, no running. A very comfortable arriving in Riga. |

| Danach bin ich mit dem öffentlichen Bus in die Stadtmitte gefahren. Auf dem folgenden Bild sieht man nochmal den Flughafen Riga von der Bushaltestelle aus. | After that I travelled to the city center by bus. The following picture shows the Riga airport, seen from the bus stop. |

| Die Stadt ist in großen Teilen noch geprägt von alten Häusern, die auch die große Zeit der Hanse noch aufleben lassen. | One can see lots of old houses that renew the time of the Hanseatic League. |

| Was ich auch herausgefunden habe. Die deutsche Stadt Bremen ist Partnerstadt von Riga. Folgerichtig gibt es in Riga auch eine Plastik der Bremer Stadtmusikanten zu bewundern: | What I have also found out. The german city of Bremen is a twin city of Riga. Consequentially one can admire the "Bremer Stadtmusikanten" in Riga: |

| Und auch klasse: Zur Zeit feiert Riga. Das Riga-Festival findet jeden Juni für ungefähr drei Wochen statt. Ich war im Park am Stadtkanal. Bäume und Sträucher sind geschmückt. Das Leben wird gefeiert. Zu der Zeit gab es gerade ein kostenloses Open-Air-Konzert mit lokalen und folkloristischen Bands. Das Zusehen und Zuschaen haben Spaß gemacht. | Also great: Riga is celebrating at this time. Riga-Festival takes place every year in June for around three weeks. I have been in the park at the city canal. Trees and bushes are decorated. People are celebrating life. At that time there was a free Open-Air with local and folkloristic bands. Watching and hearing them was great. |

| Nach dem gestrigen Ankommen, ist es schade, dass ich diese Woche einige Tage im Konferenzhotel in Riga verbringen werde. | After yesterdays arrival it's a pity that I will spend some days in the conference hotel in Riga. |
