Die meisten Trockengebiete im Taubertal beherbergen eine große Vielfalt an Pflanzen und Insekten. Beeindruckend sind die Naturschutzgebiete, mit ihren reichen Vorkommen von seltenen Orchideen. Um diese Blütenpracht zu bewundern, reisen zahlreiche Orchideenbegeisterte schon mal mehrere hundert Kilometer an. Die grandiose Flora und Fauna ist für jeden Naturliebhaber ein besonderes Erlebnis. Aber nicht nur Orchideen, auch Pflanzen wie der rauhaarige Aland (Inula hirta), der blutrote Storchschnabel (Geranium sanguineum) und viele weitere Raritäten findet man in den Trockengebieten entlang der Tauber.

Most of the dry areas in the Tauber Valley are home to a great variety of plants and insects. The nature reserves are famous for their rich deposits of rare orchids. Numerous orchid enthusiasts travel several hundred kilometres to admire the splendour of these flowers. The grandiose flora and fauna is a special experience for every nature lover. But not only orchids, also plants like the rough haired Aland Inula hirta, the blood-red cranesbill Geranium sanguineum as well as many other rarities can be found in the dry areas along the Tauber.

Die dicht gewachsenen Blüten gleichen in Ihrer Form einer Pyramide. Schon von weitem leuchtet diese Orchidee mit ihrer einzigartigen purpur-violetten Farbe. Durch diese Merkmale ist die Pyramiden-Hundswurz kaum mit einer anderen Orchidee zu verwechseln.

The densely grown flowers resemble a pyramid in their form. Even from a distance this orchid shines with its unique purple-violet color. Due to these characteristics, the pyramidal orchid can hardly be confused with any other orchid.

Wie, wenn eine so traumhaft schöne Orchidee nicht schon genug wäre, ist das weißbindige Wiesenvögelchen (Coenonympha arcania) zusammen mit der Blütenpracht einfach ein Augenblick des Glückes. Solche Bilder gelingen nur sehr selten. Letztendlich treffen hier gleich zwei Superlative aufeinander und ich hatte das Glück den Augenblick fest zu halten.

As if such a beautiful orchid wouldn't be enough already, the pearly heath Coenonympha arcania together with the splendor of flowers is simply a moment of happiness. Such pictures are very rare. In the end two superlatives meet and I had the luck to capture the moment.

Die Pyramiden-Hundswurz bevorzugt kalkhaltige Böden und kann dort relativ zahlreich vorkommen. Die Bestäubung der Orchidee erfolgt durch Schmetterlinge. Ihr Sporn enthält allerdings keinen Nektar und täuscht diesen nur vor, um Schmetterlinge anzulocken. In Mitteleuropa gilt diese Orchidee als sehr selten.

The pyramidal orchid prefers calcareous soils and can occur there in relatively large numbers. The orchid is pollinated by butterflies. Their spur, however, does not contain nectar and only pretends to attract butterflies. In Central Europe this orchid is very rare.
