Defiant

You can take away my freedom
you can take away my life
you can take away the reason why
I believe I have my rights.

You can take away my family
you can take away my home
you can take away my able legs
so I have nowhere to roam.

You cannot take my spirit
you cannot have my soul
you cannot steal the love I feel
nor pride nor faith I hold.

Demand you not my loyalty
command you not my trust.
My honor will evade you still
when your evil bones are dust.
