Home Town Tour

in #ddaily6 years ago

We made a recent trip to my hometown of Bernie, Missouri. The boys and I went down to visit the Grandparents and we had a couple of videos to create as well. While there I ran into some High School friends and got a few cool shots of small town farming life there. Hope you enjoy.

With Gratitude,
Captain Bob

Congrats on 1.5k and your videos always get me so chilled. Love it.

Thank you man! Glad you enjoy them and always appreciate your comments and following along. Hope you are well.

I really enjoyed this one Captain. I caught it on Twitter and watched it to start my day before I got out of bed. It's quite an emotional day for me and it started me off nice and mellow.

Colour grading is difficult. I've messed around a little but am way at the bottom of the curve on that! I love how you edit your cuts to the music. I need to figure that out too. Up till now I've been editing cuts first, then adding music and that just doesn't work quite so well.

I love geographical posts like these. It's easy to forget that what's seemingly dull and mundane and every day to you is exciting and fresh to people who've never seen it. It inspires me to do more in my local area, because objectively speaking it is stunning.

Thank you Cams! I hope your day is going great brother. I agree on color grading and I find it so difficult to find that "look" that I'm going for and when I find it....even harder to replicate in the next video haha. As to cuts to music, for some time now, I've often been a guy that finds a piece of music I like and create the video around that music. Just seems to work better for me many times. That wasn't the case with this video, but on many of what I consider to be my better pieces of work, the music is already picked out, and sometimes playing in my head while I'm shooting footage.

I'd love to see more about your local area. As you say, it's always more interesting to others.

Those were some really great views! Is it completely flat there too?

Yes, it is completely flat there, haha. A result of the New Madrid earthquake and fault line area. Pure Mississippi River delta farm land really.

It looks very similar to here. Do you ever have trouble uploading videos? Whenever I try to upload after I log in, it kicks me out. But if I try upload while not logged in, it uploads fine. I’m confused.

Hmm usually don't have any trouble. I would try logging out of dtube, clearing cache on the browser, then log back in using the steemit posting key option and be sure to check mark the "keep logged in" switch right before logging in. We usually find that the Steemit posting key option is way more reliable for uploading, etc.

I think checking the keep me logged in trick is what did it. Thank you!!

Awesome! Hope that solves all your issues :)

Holy cow man well done. The coloring was great - once again exceptional work. thanks for the tour Bob!

Do you use an Nd filter for the drone ?

Yeah I have a 4, 8, and 16 ND for the Mavic Air although honestly I need to work with them a bit more and learn. You are too kind on the coloring man. I'm still trying to learn, haha.

I've gotta get a set of nd's for it. Filming during the day is pretty much pointless without them if your going for a cinematic look. You footage looks great. Keep learning. You make some of the best stuff on the platform. can't wait to see the stuff your making in the future!

Watching drone footage is one of the most powerful motivations for me right now, as it's something I want to get into, once I'm back on my financial feet :)
Thanks for the footage.
Peace.

I'm glad you enjoyed it @bobaphet. I really enjoy the drone footage as well. Such a neat perspective to, for just an instant, know what a bird must feel like :)

This was such a lovely video! Amazing landscapes and sleepy town :)

Thank you! Glad you liked it and appreciate you watching!

First off, you can never go wrong with an epic travel montage in a car at the beginning. :) Second....Drone footage sunset for the win! Seriously epic footage. My favorite shot is when it was flying low to the green field. Loved the music too! Thanks for the tour of your home town! And wow....that town is small!

Yeah definitely small. Just an old farming community on the flat lands, haha. Indeed it is hard to beat a low pass over rows of farm land, haha.

Wait I can't remember, so did you grow up farming then? I mean it makes sense if you lived in a small farm town. What did your family farm? I can't remember if you mentioned it in your video. I mean that was like 12 hours ago when I watched it...lol

Indeed I did. My Dad farmed about 2000 acres. Everything from corn, soybeans, milo, to cotton, wheat and even a few purple hull peas, watermelons and cantelope :) He has since retired and is taking it easy.

wow 2000 acres!! So cool. :)

The drone shots look great. I agree with @emwalker regarding the color. Looks on point.

Thanks man! I really appreciate that. Color grading is something I need to continue working on. Always trying to improve ;)

It's been a really good video :) Congratulations :)

Why thank you!

Spectacular!!! You are so gifted! Better and better!!

Thank you! Appreciate you all.
