Chicken run addition COMPLETE! The roof flips up on hinges so I can get in there without crawling. The door is next to the main run door, which I painted turquoise for Melissa. The third pic is the view out her kitchen window. We'll be able to watch the chickens now, since the front of the addition is all chicken wire instead of pallets! I also added a mulched "porch" area in front of the doors. We had a couple bags of colored mulch left from the last owners here, so I used em here since we don't want the dyes in the garden beds. The couple inches of topsoil I dug up to inset the mulch was put on top of the long south bed. I guess it's a lasagna bed, cause it's got a layer of grass clippings, a layer of leaves, and now a layer of topsoil.

The cool part? It was made with very little new material. All recycled wood that we had from the previous owners and leftovers from the big chicken run. Most of the wire and the pallet and t-post were all leftovers, as was the door and tin on the roof. The only new materials were a couple 1x2s and about 8 feet of new chicken wire. SCORE!

That wraps up all the projects for this weekend! Time to relax on this beautiful Sunday Lord's day. Margaritas later tonight :)
