Dad Tip of the Day: Illness

in #dad5 years ago

Dad Tip of the Day: Kids will get sick often, but setting them up for success and dealing with illness in positive ways will help the kids overcome their illnesses and fears.

When you are a parent, few things make you feel as helpless as when your kids are sick and miserable. Its not fun for either of you. Fortunately, with the help of doctors, medicine and a parent’s care, a child can often recover in no time. Dealing with a chronic illness or something more serious is an entirely different matter, and will often require a new mindset around the illness. I found a good article online with some good tips for parents dealing with sick kids: https://www.aboutkidshealth.ca/Article?contentid=1138&language=English

  • Understand and adjust to new realities if there is an ongoing illness

  • Educate yourself on how to help your children

  • Get organized by properly tracking illnesses and informing others who can help

  • Find ways to relieve the stress that comes with caring for sick kids

  • Maintain good health for yourself and find good balance in life

My daughter, Kendra, has been dealing with ear infections and the related pain, runny noses, lack of sleep and fevers that accompany them. Due to many too many illnesses, we recently got little tubes surgically implanted into her ears to help with draining, which should alleviate these infections inside her ears. Not fun for her, but she was a trooper and recovered quickly – time will tell how much they help, but we are optimistic!

Greetings @brian.rrr and family,

Lovely post....very helpful.

So sorry to hear your daughter has been feeling poorly......ear aches can be painful for the little ones.

Here's hoping she will be on the mend soon.

All the best. ^__^

Cheers!

I agree that seeing sick kids is tough. Especially when you can't do much to help them. But they can recover quicker than us...

I am sorry to hear about such issues your daughter is having. But disregarding everything you are doing for her I am suggesting you to Google a bit about Doterra essential oils and its benefits. I wasn't really optimistic when I heard about it. But after using them almost on a daily basis I must say that something good is happening. I think the Basil essential oil helps with ear issues, Air essential oil is helping when you caught a cold. The lavender essential oil is calming them down. And the last on my mind is On guard essential oil, which is used for boosting the immune system. Really check it out, it's natural, and with an enormous positive feedbacks around the world.
