The calling card of modern and contemporary art, along with shock-seeking, is that it exposes its own systems of meaning and context. The preference of contemporary art, both of the artist and viewer, is for the viewer to discover, or even create, the significance of the art itself rather than falling into tired assumptions.

By choice, I chose to immerse myself in this work without having read the available texts and artist's biographies, and I found it was more potent and playful when the work was allowed to wash over me unconstrained by context or explanation.

While a poetic fragment can make for some of the most challenging bits of interpretation imaginable, in this case, it quickly leads the viewer to understand the entire piece, as it brazenly presents its singular, fragmented and poetic perspective--which is a relief considering its overall density and scope.
