Life is like a box of poetry. You never know what you're going to get

I enter a cave
I look death straight in the eye
I then murder it

Poetry Pieces by @chinyerevivian is a series of haiku written during a discord show. Normally I tend to avoid haiku on steemit (it's quality can be very hit or miss), however, these are fantastic. Much like the sample I posted above, many of the haiku feature a clever twist, or a seductive bent, leaving you with just enough to want more.

He’d offered help, but that little bundle of spit and fire scoffed, offering hers instead. At this point, he couldn’t even remember when he agreed to this, somewhere in between her leading the way through the shifting dunes of debris and her loitering outside the outpost entrance, he’d told her about Xang-Li, the beach, a shop that still sold icecream.

Three Short Stories by @calluna is really interesting because she builds 3 completely different worlds around 1 image. I adore the contest that it is based off of too- @vermillionfox makes really beautiful art!

Every time I lay on grandpa's chest, close enough to listen to his heartbeat. Still, it beats of a great concern. Not the counts, but the pain and panting for what might comes next and the horror that lies deep in his heart.

Grandpa's guilt by @botefarm is an interesting piece of micro-fiction. It has a dystopian feel, with a tension that builds over it's short duration.

Awaken from wet slumber,
a husk of a kid shambles up,
taking the sticks and branches
and into the fire does it go

Moody Mondays by @theironfelix is a post full of poetry and art that is delightfully off the wall. The post looks to be formatted as a series of poems divided by titles, but as you read they blend together and build off one another. Very cool to see a series of poems written in such a way.

The doc slaps his hand together. Looking around, Kurt finds himself in a sandbox. Toy soldiers buried in the sand with upturned battle tanks and little green army men sitting high up in a tower, congratulating themselves on the plan they'd carried out against the other, call out radio commands in their walkie-talkies.

Point Eyes Shine in the Dark by @tristancarax is an entry into the Finish the Story contest hosted by the @bananafish community. I love it for the way he plays with literary devices, and a twist at the end.
