Optimal Strategy for Curation Reward
When I joined STEEMIT back in July 2017, the various terms in this community related to our account, wallet and rewards are just like a black box for me. But as I go on experiencing more and more with this Community, I got to understand many things in depth. So one thing is very certain “The more we engage with this Community, the more we will be able to understand the nomenclature of STEEMIT and the more we understand, the better we can optimize our blog in this community”.
Today we will discuss about “Curation Reward” and what is the Optimal Strategy to generate more Curation Reward.
I am quite sure that most of new users do not go through STEEMIT FAQ, and this may be considered as one of the major setback to behave like a Refugee in this Community. We are forgetting the fact that “Knowledge is Wealth” and when it comes to a blogging community like STEEMIT, then it becomes more profound.
The reward of a post generally comprised of two parts. One is Author’s Reward and the other is Curator’s Reward. Minimum of 75% of the total reward goes as Author’s Reward and maximum of 25% of the total reward as Curator’s Reward.
Author should be understood as the person who posts a blog/article.
Curator should be understood as the person(s) who upvote(s) the post.
There is a further breakdown of Curator’s Reward (maximum of 25%) if the Curator is upvoting within first 30 mins of a post.
To understand it better, lets us go through this chart and the following table for better understanding.
So if we consider the first 30 mins of a post, then it is clearly evident that the more upvotes the Author gets within first 30 mins, the more would be the Author part and less would be the Curator part.
So in the first 30 mins there is a linear variation of Curation Reward starting from 0% at the 0 min to a maximum of 25% at the 30 mins+, after 30 mins there is no more variation and the Curator’s Reward is fixed 25% thereafter.
So the optimal strategy for a Curator is to upvote a post after 30 mins to gain the mximum possible part of the Curation Reward which is 25%. However Original Author should also be recognized and get those extra as a gift for their hard work and original content. This is why the first 30 mins of a post is considered crucial from the view point of an Author’s consideration.
It may please be noted that this strategy should not be perceived as a discouragement from an Author’s point of view. I don’t have any intention like that. I just tried to explain the Curator Reward in an optimal way. Original Authors have always got recognition and reward in this community and they have their dignified place in this awesome community.

You did not mention the number of curators before you upvoted, which also influence the ratio of the curation rewards.
Yes @tumutanzi sir, you are correct and there is "reverse-auction" mechanism to determine the curation reward distribution, I am just working on that and may be in next 3/4 days I will publish another article on "reverse-auction" mechanism of reward distribution for curators, Only 2 slides I have prepared for that so far and another 8 slides are to be prepared along with some chart and graphical representation and also a an excel sheet data book along with an example so that the reader will have detailed and complete idea about the subject matter.

I am extremely sorry @tumutanzi sir, I missed the question asked by you in a hurry, Yes the nos. of curators upvoted before you also influences the ratio of curation reward. The curation reward( in terms of reverse-auction mechanism ) may not be high if a curator upvotes within first 30 mins, but if a post is trending and most of the curators have voted within the first 30 mins, then who voted after 30 mins of a trending post may get less ratio of the curation reward.
So this rule of STEEMIT CURATION is a bit complex, however we should know the in depth details of Curation. At the same time it must also be noted that, if the post is not trending then the no of voter upvoted within first 30 mins does not matter much in terms of influencing the ratio of curation reward.
But I am quite sure that "reverse-auction" mechanism is a worrisome factor for bots. Because every one will use the bot within 3 mins of a post.
