This can definitely be a good strategy. Unfortunately, it depends solely on the ability of whomever you consider to be a "senior member" to take the time to respond. That can be difficult, but it is also rewarding.
At @thesteemengine, we try to support our members with the strength of all of the parts. We've got a group account that can bring attention to posts that may otherwise not receive any, and we've got a fantastic team of members who can help new users polish their content.

My suggestion might only work for me. It is not a generic advice but rather a description of pattern I follow.
I have seen your groups work and it seems really great. In fact I would have loved to join but I won't be able to interact outside of steemit. Unfortunately posting and interacting on Discord poses that problem for me.
