How much junk ???

I am currently in the process of moving house, I don’t have to move far but it is still moving none the less, and we all love moving, right !!!

Well while in the process of shifting box after box after box, I realised that sometimes all good intentions get thrown to the wayside.

Now 2 years ago my partner and myself moved to the big City and found a small apartment to rent, it’s a great apartment, only a 1 bedroom, small as, can’t swing a cat type arrangement, but it’s a great location, top floor, amongst the trees, balcony overlooking a park and creek and yet 2 minutes walk from one of those mega Westfield type shopping complexes.

When we moved in, we thought, great a small apartment we can be minimalist and not accumulate a lot of unnecessary junk. Well that good intention seemed to get tossed out, because while carting box after box after box, I realised how much stuff we have.

Not really so bad, but, there is always a but, we live top floor, 4 story’s up and no lift, 8 actual flights of stairs, and where did we move to, another Top floor, eight flights of stairs no lift.  Now do you see how much work we created for ourselves by accumulating all the junk? Definitely time for a cull

Ok, where is this going you say, because you just know I am going to bring this to our business procedures.

How many of us have accumulated massive amounts of junk, how many Mailers are you signed up for that you don’t use, how many TE’s are you signed up for that you don’t use, How many affiliate programs are you signed up for that do nothing for you ???

It is time to cull, and limit yourself to a few good programs that you l know you can devote time to. While it might be good to have been part of a multitude of programs at some time, well it seemed a good idea at the time; you are just creating unnecessary work for yourself. Hard work at that

While you have so much work, how much time can you devote to each and every one of those programs you are signed up for. Well for me, not much at all, and which program do you give the most energy to, I bet it flips around, and never settles

It is time to settle people and create a working space where you can be most effective. Choose and Cull. Make your business a productive one and Choose and Cull.

Devote yourself to something that works and allow your business to grow and become solid.

Back to Moving, oh, so many boxes, it is a great thing to be able to just toss some away and say, this is what I want and that, although seemed good at the time, really suits no purpose whatsoever and can be trashed for good.

That is really great advice @russellstockley, we all tend to accumulate a bit too much even if we try to limit it, and nice how you applied it to business.

Hi @flaxz thanks for the comment, and yes, I am a member of numerous Traffic exchanges, upgraded at many, but only use a few

Having moved house 20 + times, I know exactly how fast it can accumulate. Even when you tell yourself you don't need it, it somehow ends up in the cart anyway. Internet marketing is no different, you often see sites that look interesting, so you sign up to check it out, but maybe later find that it does not suit your purposes. I have recently downsized my email safelists to ones I know I can count on to deliver. I track to determine which ones to keep and which ones to set aside. I would love to do them all, but it is not feasible to read that much mail. Proof that what you do in your personal life can often be applied to business as well. Great post Russell

once again @howyf its good to see you being active with comments, yes CTP is a good start and the programs in there are awesome, although my AV program still has problems with some of them. Owners need to keep up with the times and gets ssl happening

Cleaning out the junk that we don't need is always good @russellstockley, and for business focusing our full attention on what gives the best results is the way to maximize profits, it's awesome.

Hi @thisisawesome - yes cleaning out the junk is always a great feeling, its a shame we accumulate it in the first place, a good focus would prevent this to a certain degree

Thanks @russellstockley, yeah always cleaning it away might help, but that can create a burden of itself too, maybe clean it out on a specific interval might be the most effective route.
