Do You Know the World Famous Bitcoin Pizza Story?

in #crytocurrency6 years ago

It was May 22, 2010 when a developer, Laszlo Hanyecz, got hungry. That is completely normal you would think, developers get hungry all the time.

However, this time, he decided to try his luck on the Bitcoin Talk forum and buy it for bitcoins. 10000 seemed like a reasonable price.

He wrote:

"I'll pay 10,000 bitcoins for a couple of pizzas... like maybe 2 large ones so I have some left over for the next day. I like having left over pizza to nibble on later. You can make the pizza yourself and bring it to my house or order it for me from a delivery place, but what I'm aiming for is getting food delivered in exchange for bitcoins where I don't have to order or prepare it myself, kind of like ordering a 'breakfast platter' at a hotel or something, they just bring you something to eat and you're happy!”

He did found a buyer, a British user who delivered two Papa John's pizzas for Laszlo and got 10000 bitcoins for it (worth around $ 40 at that time).

Can you figure out what would be the price of those pizzas today? More than $100 million!

How does Laszlo feel about this deal today?

Surprisingly, he is not angry at all. He told NY Times:

"It wasn’t like Bitcoins had any value back then, so the idea of trading them for a pizza was incredibly cool,"

So much about a chilled developer:)

How would you react?

I hope that you enjoyed this story even though bitcoin is falling today. I don't know about you, but I am holding.

Anyone wants to buy pizza for 10 000 bitcoins?:)
