Blockchains LLC's Nevada Crypto Smart City Is Back In The News

A lawyer and crypto multi-millionaire, Jeffrey Berns purchased 67,125 acres of land outside of Reno, Nevada to turn it into a crypto utopia with smart cities. This past week there was a development in the story from the NY Times here.

To my surprise the project is moving full steam ahead despite the bear market. Blockchains LLC has opened an office on the property and staffed it with 70 employees. They plan on building a 1000 acre "Blockchain Campus" to foster the development of DApps, AI, Nanotechnology, and 3D printing. Additional plans include developing crypto content studios for producing blockchain content and an E-sports gaming arena.

They have received local government support to build a new town with thousands of houses and to have everything interconnected and running on a blockchain, most likely Ethereum, don't laugh! It's a bold and risky venture, but Mr.Berns is putting his money, $300,000,000 so far, where his mouth is and I hope he and Blockchain LLC succeed. I would definitely consider buying a home there.

This is their presentation at Devcon IV in Prague last week. It's interesting and worth a watch.

I'm skeptical of Ethereum, but open to it. I'll continue to follow this story and report back when there are any updates. As noted in the NY Times piece in 2019 Blockchains LLC is expected to release a masterplan for one of what will eventually be several communities, a technology park and retail spaces.
