1- In swift response to news of the heavily flooded western and southwestern regions of Japan, the Binance cryptocurrency exchange has pledged to donate the equivalent of one-million U.S. dollars (USD) (“in either BNB, BTC, or JPY”) toward a relief fund that members of the crypto community can also contribute to. According to Changpeng Zhao (Co-Founder & CEO, Binance) the Binance “team is contacting local authorities to figure out final delivery logistics.”
2 - A French official has stated that cryptocurrency should not be regulated in the latest official report. Jean-Pierre Landau is the head of a government cryptocurrency task force to investigate French blockchain regulatory policy.
3 - The central bank of korea’s conclusion that cryptocurrencies pose a relatively limited risk to the traditional financial sector comes in the very same week that the Korean Financial Services Commission (FSC) revealed it is “not opposed” to cryptocurrencies and plans to align itself with the G20’s vision of “unified,” transnational crypto regulations.
4 - The Australian Tax Office has announced that it will leverage data sharing agreements made between Australia and other nations to determine the tax obligations of Australian cryptocurrency investors.
5 - The Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) in the United States has received an application for a Bitcoin ETF license from Cboe Global Markets , which would bring the ability to invest in Bitcoin to an even greater institutional investor base. There have been many such applications rejected recently, mainly on the basis of how unregulated the cryptocurrency space is. Cboe proposed to partner with Van Eyck Investment and SolidX.
