Back then, in the pre-1500s, most of the people did not deem themselves as part of a nation, but they identified themselves within their regions and villages. The regions were ruled by supreme local feudal-lords who were entitled to monthly tithes from their subordinates and fascinatingly, all the decisions that were made by the kings relied on the goodwill of their subjects. As the world turned around, several monarchs began to consolidate power by enfeebling the feudal-lords with brutality. After the seizure of power from the feudal nobles, the monarchs urged their subjects to feel loyalty towards the established nations, so birthing the hazy idea of nation-states. The treaty (Peace of Westphalia) that ended the Thirty Years' War dictated that the sovereign ruler of the state had rule over all elements of both the nation and state and consequently, sovereign states were brought into play evidently.

Conundrums of Sovereign states.

Sovereign states are represented by one central government and they have a permanent population, defined borders and the ability to enter into relations with other sovereign states, a vast majority of countries in the world are widely regarded as sovereign countries. This form of governance was a double-edged sword in the past; however, in this modern era, it has changed. Let us explore the mess that is with this system.

1. Contempt of citizens data.
   Apparently, the government acts as an information broker, making a lot of money from it. Woefully, it also buys information in an effort to maintain power over the population. Frankly speaking, the government is intended to protect the rights of its citizens; however, they often act contrary to the public's expectations.

2. Discrimination among citizens.
   The defined borders created by nations account for the racism, conflict, instability, xenophobia and exclusion that is going on in many countries. A perfect example is the president of Uganda coming from the Western part of the country and 9/10 of the people sitting in the main offices, town managers and property owners all come from the same part of the country. In consequence, this creates strife within the community. Let us imagine if Uganda did not have western, eastern or central boundaries. All of the people would have equal rights simply because the president would be coming from Uganda, but not from a specific part.

3. Non-performance.
   We are paying a lot of taxes to the government; however, we are not getting enough services from them. This is demonstrated in the shortage of resources available to the public.
