RE: Decentralization to the rescue: REMME – Decentralized Key Storage (Sort Of)

in #cryptocurrency6 years ago (edited)

How is this more secure than centralized key stores? All such services I know of store your passwords in an encrypted form so even if they are hacked, the hacker gains nothing.

I didn't read the whitepaper but from your post it seems the only advantage of the blockchain based key manager is that your password might be harder to loose, because it is stored on multiple places (decentralization).

Hmm...Good points...
Does it maybe solve this. I’m not sure.

Also one of the problems is (or might be - so there is no fixing of market’s gap right now) that they are controlled by a centralized company right. Having a decentralized storage ALWAYS fixes that problem...you don’t want to have ultra-valued key that is stored in someone’s hands. As I said, Blockchain still remains to be successfully hacked, so it makes it THE safest place where to store such an info for now right?
