Is Bittrex in trouble?

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

Today I've been trying to move some coins from Bittrex to my wallet only to find out that they not only want me to verify my account but also refuse to confirm my verification after sending them a copy of my passport and photo. It looks like it's not just me but thousands of people having troubles to access their funds on Bittrex, some of them waiting since weeks for a respond from their support. I thought Bittrex was a reliable exchange but apparently it's the very opposite! Therefore I recommend not to send any cryptocoins to Bittrex until this problem is addressed!!!

I’m guessing with the recent drop and panic Bittrex is getting overwhelmed and stopped withdrawals to prevent a run.

Also this could be irs related given the recent Coinbase audit. There’s a lot of smoke right now but in a few days hopefully it’ll clear and we can figure out if there’s a fire.

I'm reading posts of people having exactly the same problem with the same automated responses from Bittrex - since weeks and months!

Maybe it takes them time to come up with the funds? We’re in an unregulated market so a lot of these exchanges play a bit fast and lose with other people’s money.

Mh. Generally all the plattforms are having problems. I had problems with kraken for example. I guess to many people want to hop on the train. Now its difficult for the train to gain momentum. Especially right now with btc over 10000 Dollar is a lot of action going on. Better to wait it out now.

At least thats my opinion
@leserge

I left Kraken und Poloniex for the same reasons - especially Kraken is rendered useless doe to performance issues.

Same thing happened to me but then after about a week they approved my verification. Now I can do anything no problem on bittrex. Wish you luck. stay safe

Thanks! When did it happen?

This was a little over 2 months ago. It kept telling me I failed verification and could not do it again, So I just kept trading and then about a week later it said I was approved. Haven't had an issue since.

Well then there is still hope to get it the verification...

It took me a few tries to have them accept my id after they changed their account verification policies a few months ago. And over the last few weeks, Bittrex has been acting increasingly funny. Yesterday they did a big back-end upgrade, though, so hopefully that will speed things up.

They only gave my one try to upload my id...

I had to do the whole process again and again, retaking the selfie and passport pics until their system finally accepted it. The whole thing was an exercise in frustration, and I would have given up if I hadn't had a bunch of tokens on their platform that needed to be transferred more quickly than their hilariously low new transfer limit allowed: \

As I said, I don't have to option to try again.

well post i like it thanks for shearing

That's very strange, I have been depositing and withdrawing without any issues (though small amounts), and I haven't even completed the enhanced verification. You got me worried now, @gric :)

So did I. Didn't have any issues with the basic verification until today. I was about to try out my new hardware wallet with just 0.01 BTC first and that's when they wanted me to complete the extended verification. It failed and the system won't let me to try to upload an new image of my ID. The support is not responding - only automated emails...

I am wondering, why would they ask for an extended verification if you are only withdrawing 0.01 BTC?

I don't know. It's all very weird. I can imagine that they get pressure from the US government which is trying to bring down the cryptos by crippling the exchanges.

Bitfinex for instance, which is located in Taiwan didn't need any verification for this sort of withdrawal.

The Wife loved using Bitfinix. Now they're no longer allowed to serve American customers.

"Land of the free" my butt.

Can you trade with Steem on Bitfinex?

Yes you can trade Steem as well as Steem Dollar.

Hey @gric, I just wanted to let you know that I withdrew 0.018 BTC from bittrex today without any issues. The system didn't ask me to complete the extended verification.
