Up to 30% of Moscow's user computers are infected with viruses-miners
From 20% to 30% of computers in Moscow are infected with malicious software for the mining of Bitcoin crypto currency. This was stated by Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation on Internet Development Herman Klimenko in an interview with the news agency RNS.
According to Klimenko, the most common and dangerous virus is currently the crypto-currency virus.
"He hacks your server and puts Bitcoin on it," says the adviser.
As noted by Klimenko, modern viruses try not to damage computers, but, on the contrary, to use their capacities, for mining of crypto-currencies and other purposes.
Kaspersky Lab counts from 20% to 30% of infected computers with this type of virus from 20 million in Moscow. According to Anton Ivanov, an expert at Kaspersky Lab, 6 percent of Russian users were attacked this year to install miners.
The main threat to the user of the computer is that the virus greatly reduces its performance. The matter is that in the process of mining the computer solves complex cryptographic problems using the available computing powers, while the CPU and the video card can reach critical levels of work intensity, which adversely affects the equipment itself and, of course, the overall performance of the computer.
Typically, virus infection occurs when you visit malicious sites and through e-mail along with infected attachments.
