Welcome to cryptos and keep your eyes open!

Hi everyone, i realised that the amount of non-crypto users on Steemit got huge and for that reason i also tought it may be good to say that yes cryptos are nice, but also dangerous! There is a lot of users/scammers that are so thirsty for profit that will do anything for it which includes scamming you.
It's very easy to get scammed and there is precautions one should take.
First of all never trust someone that tells you to invest in them or that offers you an skeetchy too-good-to-be-true offer it will end in a scam.

Cloudmining

You will see a lot of cloudmining sites and announces even people claiming they did got paid, well even if they did pay most of the times it is a ponzi which is a matter of time till they run. Mining by yourself is the best thing to do, even if I heard about a couple of them legit I'll avoid mentioning them just in case.

Gambling sites

There is a lot of gambling bussiness in crypto and many legit but it can also be dangerous you should always look well into it's reputation, take count that they may have created shill accounts on which they leave positive feedback among themselves, I'll later add a list of trusted sites.
Sites i trust: Just-dice.com is definetly my favorite, bit-exo.com has a decent variety of games and it's a moneypot site, fortunejack is also known.

Darkmarkets

Well ignoring the small fact that all of them are illegal ill also point that the FBI has busted so many of them that I wouldn't trust them much, surely there is one or two that may be legit but there is a risk.

Exchanges

First of all i strongly recommend to not save your funds in an exchange there is a lot of ways to store your coins without keeping them there at risk. Exchanges are usually safe but you should look yourself, there is many that i wouldn't trust simply because the quality of their support or the general site functioning.
Exchanges i trust: bittrex and poloniex.

Forums

Plagued with scammers and spammers yet you can easily find good people around as long as you don't trust people too much, don't base yourself in the trust system since accounts are bought and sold every day. Most sites have a post into the forums so you can check there for feedback.
Forums i like: Bitcointalk is the most used one but there is many out there worth checking (like altcoins own forum or even bitcoingarden.tk which owner is pretty active and nice.

Trading

cryptocurrency-trading5ad4b.jpg
Yes, trading, we usually buy crypto assets because we think it has/it will have a high value but sometimes there is just a lot of people behind speaking good about it just so they can sell their coins higher, this is the most common type of scamming in my opinion. There is a lot of "shitcoins" that are really made just to make others profit so you should look really good into something before investing.
Trading: Trading is done on exchanges mostly so many of the shitcoins you will trade won't be avaible on bittrex/polo since their standard is a bit higher, remember to limit your exposure to sites like yobit.

All this won't protect you from getting scammed, you must learn to see by yourself when things are skeetchy i just hope it makes new crypto users to have a bit more of caution. Remember that such things happen every day in real life, cryptos only make it a bit easier. Remember, before acting research.

Ps: I hope i didn't scared you with all this but it's good to know the bad parts too, if you take care you can be very succesful.
Ps2: Ill update later the post with some of the sites i personaly trust.
Edit: Ps3: If you think i missed anything and you want me to add it to the post just let me know.

Sort:

Good warning. Don't end up like yer old boy Rob here and gamble away your precious tokens.

I wasn't trying to tell people to not gamble away but to do it in a truly fair place and to research before getting involved. Eitherway I do agree with you, it hurts to gamble hard earned coins.

Excellent post. Everyone new to Bitcoin/Steemit should read this ASAP

In trying to slowly promote it but it's going slow.

Oh nice post!

Thanks :) I'll improve it and fix the links thru the day, not fully free atm since I'm at work.
