Learn How To Mine Cryptocurrency Straight From Your iPhone Even If You Are Brand New To Mining

With recent advances in improved CPU performance in mobile devices, mining straight from your iPhone is now officially possible.

I am mining on my iPhone 7 Plus as we speak. It is pretty neat to know that I have a miner in my back pocket that is earning me coins without thinking about it.

Want to know how it's done? Great, here's the tutorial to get you up and running...

(keep in mind, you need to be performing these actions from your iPhone Safari browser, not a laptop)

The App

There is an app for iOS devices called Mobile Miner that allows you to mine CryptoNote currencies such as Monero, Dashcoin, and Electroneum.

Mobile Mining does not require a jailbreak at all. To get this app, all you do is visit the iOS Build Store on the Safari browser.

The Build Store is where you can download multiple different apps on your phone that are not available in the App Store.

You will have access to the mining app, plus a plethora of other useful apps such as video game emulators, tweaked social media, music, and movies.

For those wondering if this is legal, it is. They give a portion of the proceeds to Apple each time someone creates a paid account.

The nice thing is that it's a one time cost with no recurring member fees for an entire year, starting from your purchase date.

Once you register and perform the iPhone set up steps, go the the Applications page. There you will see Mobile Miner listed at the bottom:

Click on the app and you will be taken to a screen that looks like the below photo. There is also a short description of the app on the page that you can read if you'd like.

Now it is time to install the app on your iPhone (which takes around a minute or so when connected to WiFi). Click on the Install button on the page, then hit the Run button once it appears.

Mining Setup

Before you open the app, you first need to have 2 things:

  1. A cryptocurrency wallet

  2. A mining pool.

Depending on the type of currency you are mining, you will need to choose the appropriate wallet and mining pool for that currency.

To save time, I will share the currency that I am currently mining which is called Electroneum (ETN).

To open an Electroneum wallet, go to My Electroneum and follow the steps they provide.

Once your wallet is live, you can go ahead and open up your Mobile Mining app that you just downloaded to your device.

Settings & Mining Pool

The app will open up and you will see a screen that looks like the phone on the left below:

Please DO NOT leave the current default configuration inside of the app. If you do, you will mine for the creator of the app instead of for yourself.

Click the gear icon at the top right of the screen to go to the Settings page. Once on Settings, choose Edit Configurations. Here, you want to edit the default configuration to have your credentials inside.

To simplify this process, please do the following: Once you click on "Edit Configurations", click on "Default". Then, the only thing you are going to change is the field labeled "Username/Address".

Delete the existing address in there, and enter in the address from the wallet you created at My Electroneum. There is a copy button by your public address that you can use to paste into this field in the app.

Your wallet address is going to be a very long string of characters that are completely random.

After you enter that address in the Username field, the only other thing you may want to edit is the number of Threads.

The lower the Threads number, the less CPU power it will use on your iPhone. I normally keep mine on 1 Thread so that my iPhone still performs at a high level when I am texting or browsing the web.

Once that is done, then hit the Save button at the top right of the screen. Then go back to Settings.

Make ABSOLUTELY sure that the "Keep Alive in Background" option is turned on (the orange switch is to the right)

Even if your phone locks, your app will still be mining for you in the background. How incredible is that?

After that, click "Done".

You are now ready to start mining! Hit the "Start Mining" button at the bottom of the screen to start mining on your iPhone device!

Do not worry if you stop mining or the app closes at some point. All of the shares that you earn in the pool are automatically recorded in the pool for you.

Earnings

To check your balance of what you've earned after you've been mining for a couple days, go to the US pool website and enter in your wallet address in the search bar to view your stats and payment history.

The expected earnings using this app are OK for mining on a smartphone. I've had my app running for about 5 days now about 8-10 hours per day and have earned between 1.2 and 2 Electroneum (ETN).

Each ETN coin runs for around 8 cents at the time I am writing this article. If you set your Thread count to higher than 1, your iPhone will work harder and produce more Hashes per second.

The more hashes per second, the more shares you will acquire and the more you will be rewarded for your efforts by the mining pool.

The price of Electroneum and other coins are expected to rise as the months go by. Might as well do some mining and claim it for ourselves!

Final Regards

It is amazing how modern technology has allowed us to mine cryptocurrency in the background while we do other things such as eating, playing video games, going for walks, or hanging with friends.

As a side note, if you are wanting to use a pool other than the US Pool, then visit this Electroneum site for more options.

If you are wanting to mine other coins, then make sure you have a wallet set up that supports that coin, along with a good pool to connect up to.

Lastly, the Mobile Mining app uses a lot of power. Do your best to keep it charging while using it.

Other than that, enjoy your new app and your new cryptocurrency that you are earning. Be sure to upvote this post if you received value, and leave a comment or question below and I will be happy to assist you. Cheers!
