A Card and A Party for Sofia, the Youngest Ethereum Holder
If you are thinking of gift ideas for birthdays, or for Christmas maybe, how does crypto-gift sound? And while you're at it, why not make a cute card too!
My God-daughter Sofia, daughter to two other steemians @wristalkph and @thedailymom, celebrated her 1st Birthday last Sunday.
It was a fun-filled Jollibee Kiddie party with face-painting, balloon-twisting and a candy station for the kids to enjoy. I was planning on covering the cost for the baloon-twisting booth but her mom, my bestest friend, said in our chat conversation:
But Sofia wants Ethereum Ninang.
Ninang- Filipino term for female God-parent.Ethereum it is then. I was cracking my brain on how to present the gift, when @precise came up with a creative idea- make qrcodes with Sofia's photo on it!
Step 1: Create QRcodes
And he worked his magic on the computer. Watching the process, it was fairly simple. Just go to a site that allows you to create qrcodes, choose the design you want and use images of choice.
Ta-da! Qrcodes for her Ethereum address, ethplorer address and her very important private key made with love!

Step 2: Print as Photos
As seen above, these were printed as wallet-sized photos.
Step 3: The Card Creation
I used pink special papers, buttons, gold ribbon, clear nail-polish, glue, pen and a pair of scissors.
Folded the paper in half, then pasted the photos on the right-hand inner side.
Notes on the card:
Top photo- Ethplorer
Baby Sofia, please tell mommy and daddy to scan this to view how much ethereum you now own. I must say you just might be the youngest crypto-investor there is!
Middle Photo- Ethereum Address
Have this scanned too, so you'd know your ethereum address. Mommy, daddy or other ninongs and ninangs just might want to add more for you!
Bottom Photo- Private Key
This one though should be scanned in PRIVATE, this is NOT for sharing as it safe-keeps your ETH. Only mommy and daddy should know this for now.
Proceeded to create the card cover. It was a Hello Kitty-themed party so I drew a silhouette, pasted a gold ribbon and wrote Sofia's name on it. Traced it with a clear nail-polish for added sheen. Cut and pasted this on the card front, along with buttons of different shapes and colors formed as a flower.
On the inner left-hand side, a simple birthday greeting was written. This was also traced with clear nail polish for extra glow.
Raphael was watching me do this, and asked-
I said I'm making a card for Sofia's birthday, it will be our gift for her. He worriedly said,
Oh no! I don't have a gift! Oh mommy I have an idea! I can cut-out a heart and write Happy Birthday Sofia!
And so he did. A heart made with 💖 from Rafa.
This was added as a loose insert on the card.
The Finished Product
And here, I present- an ethereum gift card for one-year old Sofia!
The Party
It was well-attended and the kids and kids-at-heart had loads of fun! @luvabi, @greymonolith, Mika and Dru, @jeanelleybee, Nathan, @precise, myself, Raphael and our Manang Amelia had a great time.
There were games for young kids and "older" kids, and as mentioned- a candy bar, face-painting and baloon-twisting stations.
And of course the well-loved Jollibee mascot made an attendance and danced! I was too stoked seeing him and so I gave him a high-five!

Of course Raphael had to change his shirt being sweaty and all from all the running and playing. So here he was sporting Aqua Minnow!
Thoughts- what if we give out SBD or STEEM this Christmas? I for one won't mind receiving these.

True. Most of the times, children are gifted toys or clothes which rather end up unused. If cash, there's a tendency of it being spent immediately if the parent is not able to put it in the child's bank a/c. 😅
