I think that the point is to help motivate steemians who are not getting a lot of attention even though they are producing good content to continue/not lose momentum. I write a new original song pretty much every week, and sometimes it makes like 1$. Takes me hours to produce that content sometimes a couple weeks even. Trust me it doesn't feel too good when it slips through the cracks of steemit and 10 hours of creative work yield 40 views and a couple bucks lol..
