Creative culture :How to be a creative leader?

in #creative3 years ago

Creative leadership is the ability to manage your team so that it realizes its potential and creates innovative solutions. A creative leader is a person who creates conditions conducive to the creativity of employees. To understand what kind of leader you are, you will need to ask the "why" questions again. And How?".

Why do you do what you do, and why should the team follow you? The leader sets the direction and takes risks. He is a researcher on a journey into the unknown, and researchers must have an inspiring vision of the future. If he is not there, people are unlikely to follow his example.

To find like-minded people, leaders formulate a mission and vision. Formulating them so that people want to be part of your goal is the surest and easiest way to create a dream team.

Mission is the global goal of the company, why it exists, in addition to making money. Vision is how you realize your goal through the work, products, services, and experiences you create. For example, Coca-Cola's mission is: “Refresh the world.

To bring meaning to everything we do, ”and the vision:“ To create brands and drinks that people would love and that would refresh their body and spirit. Create a more sustainable business and a better shared future that makes a difference in the lives of people and communities. "

For one study, I needed to interview Gen Z guys who are looking for their first job right now. It is noteworthy that many centennials are ready to work for an idea if it has value for people and inspires them, even if the salary is lower than for positions without such an ideological charge.

The mission of the employer is important for them! But, unfortunately, I rarely meet local businesses whose owners think about it. I hope that when this generation becomes the main work force, all companies will exist not only to make money, but also to participate in positive change in the world.

How will you work to achieve your goal? What will be the relationships between colleagues, work processes, what principles do you value, and what will be your leadership style. Basically, this is the culture of the company, and if you want to be flexible, bold and create cool products, it must be creative.

Components of a creative culture:

  • The team is inspired. Her work is about something meaningful;
  • Everyone is involved in the process. Each member of the team feels that they are contributing to the project;
  • Growth and development of skills are encouraged;
  • There is a trusting atmosphere in which colleagues support each other and are ready to help in a difficult situation;
  • It is allowed to make mistakes and learn from mistakes. Thomas Edison said: “I didn't fail. I've found 10,000 non-working solutions. " Be like Thomas.
  • Multidisciplinary teams and teamwork are appreciated;
  • Experiments are encouraged and a willingness to try rather than waste time thinking;
  • Nice atmosphere. In a creative company, after all, it's just fun.

I know that for many of us, bosses and their attitude to employees as tools to achieve personal goals is a sore point. I myself have come across such leaders. In this case, I have only one thought: let's ourselves be the leaders we would like to follow.

We will be such leaders in work, personal life, family. Not to manage, but to inspire, not to be afraid of mistakes, come up with your big dreams, adhere to the desired course and be kind to yourself.
