Made myself a roast chook | Feed the family for under $10.00
Hola Steemit.
Today I channeled my inner Curtis Stone and jumped into the kitchen to make myself a delicious roast chicken recipe. This recipe is a variation on a family recipe, that cuts out several fancy ingredients that I don't stock in my house being a millennial bachelor.
Here are the ingredients, as you can see it's super basic and super simple.
Ingredients:
- 1 chook.
- 2 slices of bread
- Tomato sauce
- Rosemary
- Salt
Method:
- Defrost your chook in the fridge.
- Place defrosted chook on cooking tray.
- Take two slices of bread and break into two pieces in a bowl.
- Sprinkle in two sprigs of rosemary broken up. Pour in a few dashes of tomato sauce and mix with your hands.
- Insert into the cavity of the chook.
- Sprinkle some salt and rosemary leaves onto the skin. Smear on a little sauce for a bit of flavour and moisture.
- Bake in the oven at 170 degrees Celsius for 2 hours or until the chook is cooked. Approximately half-way through your cooking, place some aluminium foil over the chook to save it from charring on the outside too much.
And here is how she came out of the oven:

Hello this recipe looks pretty delicious and for under 10$perfect:)
Yeah it was very tasty. I like to experiment with roasts and different flavours. It's coming up to the Christmas season in a few months and I'll be making a roast for Christmas Day so I've got to practice.
Thanks for stopping by. :)
Haaa good luck then to find the perfect roast recipe for christmas:)
yummy😊 that looks fantastic
Thanks mate. Yeah it was actually great. Rosemary + salt + chicken + tomato flavour works really nicely.
A dash of plain vinegar in the stuffing, plus chopped up tomato and onion is how I usually do it properly but I didn't have on hand.
