Back to Steemit and back in the kitchen | Chocolate Slice
Hola Steemit,
I'm back after a hiatus in posting. I had a fairly stressful end/start to the year and so I took a break from posting.
Glad to be back though!
Here's a slice I wrangled up tonight. This is super easy and quick and better than wasting money at the store on processed desserts.
Let's begin!
Ingredients:
1 cup of flour
100g of Butter
1 heaped tablespoon of Cocoa Powder
1 cup of sugar
Icing:
2 cups of icing.
Tablespoon of cocoa powder
Small knob butter
Hot water
Method:
- Melt the butter into saucepan until totally liquid.
- Sift into a glass mixing bowl the flour, sugar and cocoa powder.
- Pour in the butter and stir the mixture through until it forms a wet crumbly mixture.
- Take a slice tray approximately 13cm x 20cm and place in a sheet of grease proof paper in.
- Pour in the crumb mixture and press it into the tray.
- Bake at 180 degree for 10 mins and take out of the oven and rest.
- Pour icing sugar and cocoa and knob of butter into a power and add hot water. Stir until the icing is formed.
- Pour onto the slice and allow it to cool and set.
Here's my results.
While resting in the slice tray:
Sliced and presented:
If you like your slice dry and crunchy, then leave it in the oven a little longer. If you like it soft, moist and chewy, then turn the oven down 10-20 degrees cooler.
