Hello, poetry-type people. The weekend is drawing to an end and so is #poetryweekend. As they say, all good things must end. Alas, this is also true for us ... sort of. I will continue to host #poetryweekend with #haikusaturday and #deadpoems, but I am afraid #fridaypoets must go the way of the dodo bird ... but not really. I am feeling the crunch timewise and am going to give myself a lighter load by off-loading #fridaypoets. But all is not lost. @margaretwise hosts her own Friday challenge for poetry; so we can keep the poetry flame alive there. Margaret really is a lovely person. I am hoping to join in next Friday. Hope I see some of guys there on Friday and you still drop by my blog for #haikusaturday and #deadpoems.

Here are the rules for #deadpoems

  • Upvote and re-esteem this post.
  • The post must be at least a week old.
  • Vote for 1-3 other entries in the comment section. Do NOT upvote the original post. That is a wasted vote. Upvote the comment here.
  • I will choose from among the poets/poems that received the most votes and best quality comments and gave the best comments and did their diligent best to upvote 1-3 other entries.
  • Depending on the size of the payout, I try to reward as many people as possible.
  • Poems only, all forms of poetry welcomed.
  • Don't vote for yourself

Still waiting for last week's post to mature and then I will post the payout amounts. Keep you eyes peeled for payout amounts.

Good luck everyone:):):)

Update. Last week's post received a liquid payout of roughy 0.261 SBD. We also received a donation of 1 SBD for a total prize payout of 1.261. I apologize to the donor, I have lost your steemit name.

Sort:

I perceive that something valuable is sinking in this fabulous piece. Serious wounds, the war on the door moves the balance towards the border confines, the overflow of strong and negative emotions flood the scene

Turning depths from calm, to tempest, to icy doldrums
Once felt the white whale won’t be forgotten

However, self-esteem is also glimpsed, the awareness that it will not be harmed by whoever wants, but by whoever can, because she is clear and armed, knows how to defend herself.

The white whale, seen by those who can only watch
Offered, but like a fist full of brine, always out of reach

Well done, Pryde!

whale, out of reach
while always immersed

;)

A poem of stark, human ambition and the desperation of a life given only to the pursuit of ambition.

You got it, Denise:) A nod to Melville:)

In the desert of calm in the absence of voices,
witness of forced confinement. Mirage,
plays the imagination and interrupts eventually
the atavistic gift.

Here is captured with mastery a beautiful moment of contemplation of a beach before the sea. The sea is seen as a prisoner of the beach, which is its jailer and its dreamy lover who receives it eventually with each stroke of the wave.
This poem represents an excellent work of writing and images. Well done, brother!

Thank you sister.

"Suffering of a helpless fish.", brilliant. Just imagine, we are being surrounded by muted, liquid suffering.

Hi! Here I bring my dead piggy back :)
Scrawls

They say the artist is revealed in every brush stroke. Your lines are those brush strokes in this revelation of self-healing through our creative works.

A brilliant poem full of feelings for a land almost destroyed.

It is true, but by reducing the apprehension that generates anguish, for my part, there is no solution that depends. So, self-healing is to extract the anguish.

The defense of the territory and the food make the dogs bark loudly.

"Dog that barks, doesn't bite", they say around here, dear @bacus15 ;)

Haha. But he is guarding meat, not bitting it ;) .

Dogs bark a warning, but when they stop barking…

They act accordingly ;) .

True. Hey, I’d appreciate your vote for my submission.

Sure, with pleasure :) .

Done, with comment added :) .

La naturaleza nos brinda su cobijo, respondamos con el mismo amor. Cuidemos de ella y nuestras generaciones lo agradecerán.

I think there's a copy pasta error- you talk about haiku in the rules rather than deadpoems rules

Thanks, @sunravelme. That was indeed the case. Fixed now:):):)

A #horror themed #onomatopoeic poem of #anxiety on a lonely, possibly evil inhabited street. Is it just your imagination? Do you really even want to find out? https://steemit.com/poetry/@momzillanc/something-wicked-stalks-the-light

I remember this poem and its distinct atmosphere. Fear is far from being beautiful, but adequate portrayal of fear is, in a strange way, sometimes beautiful.

Thanks so much! Isn’t it wonderfully strange the way words can be beautiful, even when they’re about something ugly or scary or tragic… That’s the beauty of writing.

Yes, thats true. And, you know, longer i write and explore languages, more i see and understand how multidimensional words are. More we dig into it, more fascinating it gets.

Meaning has so many layers, so many context-related types that we can basically talk and discuss on it endlessly, without ever exhausting the topic.

The fear of darkness goes back to the origin in the world. When darkness was associated with death. We were victims of predatory night. The fear is in our cells.

Well said. And, thanks so much.

Good job, @momzillanc. It transmits that feeling of fear to a sneak attack very well. What one feels is going to jump on one, out of nowhere, to devour us, even if it has no face.

Thanks.

Haven’t we all been alone on a dark street where every echo and every drip or clank or clatter was like nails across a blackboard on our nerves?

I’d appreciate your vote.

Ready! Excuse so much distraction!

Thanks, and good luck with your submission this week.
