He wrote an austere letter "TO SOME ONE BEAUTIFUL AT HEART AND FAR AWAY THAT CAN BE REACHED," with his contact details attached to it, he corked it inside a bottle, and tossed it into the see in the hopes that it might help him find a young woman to marry.

two years later, in 1965, he was surprised to receive a letter from a South African girl, Brenda, who said,* "I may not be beautiful at heart, but it is extremely surprising that this little bottle have travelled this distance to reach me that I must send you a reply"*.
