A new consciousness: Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. Ephesians 5:14
The awakening of the conscience is the awakening of the mind to the truth, we live in a world surrounded by appearances, things do not always appear to us as they are. The path to truth is a difficult path, Christ himself says so: "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.", Matthew 7:13-14.
The path to the enlightenment of the conscience is the imitation of Jesus: "Follow God's example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us.", Ephesians 5:1-2.
The apostle Paul speaks to us in the epistle to the Ephesians, of a new consciousness, of a conscience in Jesus, of not living as asleep people: "Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you", Ephesians 5:14
This teaching bears a resemblance to the allegory of Platon's cave; like those people that Plato describes, we live chained to a world of shadows and we must leave that cave to ascend towards the true light of day.
Precision and accuracy, progressive thinking, constancy; these are the characteristics of those who follow the path of Jesus, of those who accept the kingdom of God; the empire, the government, the dominion of the perfections and qualities of God: "Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect", Matthew 5:48; "Be merciful just as your Father is merciful", Luke 6:36; "Be holy because I am holy", 1 Peter 1:16.
Jesus calls us to a new conscience, to leave the madness of excessive ambition and accept the wisdom of God: "But be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.", Ephesians 5:15-17.
