People want to look like they're balling or prettier. I like certain filters though, I have encountered lots of ordinary photos that have emotional appeal because of the filter.
Art and photography purposes such as what I think you're referencing are great. No qualms. I'm talking about when people try to hide flaws or deceive people into thinking they're better-looking or younger than they really are.
