Community Series #16: Avoiding Accidents
My brother and I had an adventurous drive through the PA mountains when we worked at a metal fabrication shop.
One of our customers was in desperate need of parts to build their section of a JLG product, and we volunteered to deliver them.
When I say parts, I mean engine mounts for a man-lift. In total, we had 15-16 tons on a trailer and flat-bed operation.
That weight was all that our truck could handle, and we crawled 15-20 mph up the mountain.
Yes, we were a hazard, and we prayed all the way down the mountain as we smelled our brakes melting away. We laugh about it now wondering what we were thinking.
Abi had a near accident this past week as she traveled to Louisville for an admissions booth.
The windshield on one of our vehicles started cracking, and only increased as the trip continued.
There was one crack where water began to seep in with the wiper blades sloshing the water around.
When we scheduled an immediate appointment for Louisville, there was nothing available before Abi needed to return.
We prayed her home with a cracked windshield. Guerrilla Tape did the job as a sealer and adhesive to keep my girl safe.

God helped you to my friend and whispered the whole advices into your ear. I am glad that everything went ok . Take care my friend ;))
Thank you
Deb and I were heading home one Saturday in winter taking a busy highway. My windshield washers ran out of fluid and the windshield was coated with a haze of dry road salt that obscured our vision, The sun was in our eyes and as we passed under the shadow of an overpass we could see a wall of red tail lights directly before us only about a hundred feet away. We were travelling about 70 mph and I had almost no time to react or get out of the way since we were in the passing lane with a guardrail to our left and a line of cars clogging the lane to our right. I stood on the brakes and I remember Deb screaming for her Mommy - she was in her mid-thirties at the time. I can still see her white knuckles grasping the hand rest on the dash in front of her seat. Then, everything went white.
We ended up in the middle several stopped cars in an empty space. The drivers around us were shaking their heads wondering how we got there and Deb said afterward (when she could talk) that we went through several vehicles like they were TV images.
This all took place just days after we became Christians and we were under some severe oppression at the time - that's another story.
I don't expect you to believe it - Deb refuses to talk about it and has mostly shut it out of her mind. It was one of several things we were going through at the time - https://steemit.com/lovefriday/@countrygirl/love-friday-calling-on-angels
Someone was watching over us on more than several occasions.
I believe you.
That is a beautiful story of the Lord’s provision and protection. I think it’s cool that it happened within the first few days of your saving faith - what a testament to the change God brings about in our lives.
Thank you for this, John!
for Deb and I it was a radical conversion - I was teaching theology, having taken umpteen courses in university , but I wouldn't have known God if he walked in the room with a red hat lol
Lol. It is a permeating experience to encounter the holy God of the universe.
No near accidents for me of late...we did almost die a couple years ago, did a complete 360 on a highway going past the Grand Canyon heading east in a snow storm. I woke up in halfway into the spin, thought my husband bounced of the guardrail and we slid to a stop....what's weird no cars or trucks at that moment even though we had past through heavy traffic before I dozed off and no damage from hitting the guardrail...I woke up and the whole thing happened in slow motion for me....weirdest feeling having time slowdown like that ....
Wow, that would feel strange to have time slow down like that while you spun out. Thankful you lived to tell the tale. Somedbody was watching out for you guys.
Hello & Cheers!! I'm a content detection and information bot. You are receiving this reply because a short link or links have been detected in your post/comment. The purpose of this message is to inform your readers and yourself about the use of and dangers of short links.
To the readers of the post: Short links are provided by url shortening services. The short links they provide can be useful in some cases. Generally their use is benign. But as with all useful tools there are dangers. Short links can be used to hide all sorts of things. Quite frequently they are used to hide referral links for instance. While not dangerous this can be deceptive. They can also be used to hide dangerous links such as links to phishing sites, sites loaded with malware, scam sites, etc. You should always be extremely cautious before clicking on one. If you don't know and trust the poster don't click. Even if you do you should still be cautious and wary of any site you are sent to. It's always better to visit the site directly and not through a short link.
To the author of the post: While short links may be useful on some sites they are not needed on steemit. You can use markdown to format your links such as this link to steemit. It's as simple as
[steemit](https://steemit.com)
Unlike short links this allows the reader to see where they are going by simply hovering over the link before they click on it.Here is my story:
