ColorChallenge SundayPurple: Epic Amethyst
Happy Sunday!
@kalemandra hosts an ongoing Color Challenge to celebrate the rainbow through art & photography, and Sunday is PURPLE!! I'm glad to get in on this PURPLErrific game today with a few photos!

This was taken at the annual International Gem & Mineral Show in Tucson, Arizona a few years ago. We went to do a very successful fundraiser for the @gardenofeden for the duration of the 2 week long event.
The gem show is held at 40+ locations throughout the city, and many of them are huge warehouses and halls full of amazing crystals from all over the world! I got to see a lot of incredible specimens, but I'll just post a few photos I took of the natural purple beauties here today in honor of Purple Sunday:
Ok this last one is not purple or even a very good photo at all, but just to give you an idea of the kind of value & wealth of gems & minerals that pass through this show - there are a few thousand dollars' worth of opals in the bottom of this plain old container on a plain old table:

I am passionate about stones and fossils, these are really beautiful!

Those crystals in the first picture are really huge. My God.
We have some gem stones in Nigeria but I have never come across any.

The range of stones & crystals that nature creates is absolutely astounding!! Do you know what kind are from Nigeria?
Tourmaline is like the most popular and then we also have aquamarine.
DROOLING over all the purpley amethysty goodness- I wear amethyst around my neck as it is my birthstone, and also uber pretty ;) makes me feel all kinds of lovely- i bet you were buzzing at that show!
hello @dayleeo, is it true that these gems help in improving the human feelings and do they emit energy?
There are some shows we watch o the tv and they suggest that these gems stones lift off negative energy.
Well here's what I DO know. I know that the human body houses and conducts electromagnetic activity- and I also know that there are stones gems and crystals that have an effect on electromagnetic currents... beyond that I don't know much of the science. But I don't doubt their effect at all- Plus if they make you happy because they're pretty they're having SOME positive effect either way right? ;)
