๐ Color Challenge - ๐ Wednesday Yellow, and Some Sad, yet Positive Thoughts
This is my entry for #ColorChallenge: Wednesday Yellow initiated by @kalemandra, and inspired by @dswigle as always!
For today's #colorchallenge, I have the cutest photo. It was @morkrock's baby cousin's birthday this weekend. She turned a whole 19 years of old.
NINETEEN. Feels so long ago for me... although only 11 years ago. This girl is a breath of fresh air. Troubled, yes, but beautiful, kind. We are kindred spirits. I have seen a few posts about loneliness and the lack of connectivity we have in this uber connected world.
@arbitrarykitten wrote a good post here about the loneliness older people suffer during the holidays, and @dandesign86 also touched on our connectivity issues in his post
All of this got me to thinking:
So here's my Hump Day Love for you. Phone that friend you haven't spoken to in ages. Hug your mom. Say hi to your weird neighbour.
I had a discussion with a family member about giving to the homeless. That's a whole 'nother day's topic, but, you can GIVE with more than money. We are blessed to be able to give LOVE. A few week's ago, a homeless junkie asked me for money. I said no, and asked what he needed the money for. He needed toiletries. So I bought him toothpaste, deodorant, a comb, a toothbrush and some soap. This is doesn't matter at all, I'm just explaining for context. But when I gave it to him, I held his hand. The look in his eyes was sad. SO sad. I knew then that the personal connection and touch, and being treated like a human, and NOT being looked through or ignored, was more important than money or the toiletries.
Love your family intensely and look up and around.

When I see a homeless person begging on the street I usually buy them something to eat like a banana or a sandwich instead of giving them the money. What I think they'd need much more is (but what I can't give them) a piece of privacy that is only theirs. I imagine, that's the thing I'd miss the most if homeless.

It's my version of a social commentary about the Internet, its anonymity, the omnipresent escape-click, the sexualization of everything, the superficiality of our globalized virtual selfie-society and I am trying to meme the term bukkake in a broader sense (for fun and confusion). Age is my only restriction. Minors shouldn't be affected by this, although I think today even most 12 yo kids watch porn every day. It's terrible and I don't think we should pretend it's not happening. Nothing about it is personally against you or anyone else.

oh he hehhehehehe, silly me was there an edited comment , I can't keep up with all my other windows open about how to get a brazilian ass and be a size 2 (oh I'm both of those and have the shittiest days and crap like everyone else)..AND yes that is meant to piss off the right people if that crap pisses you off, the pissing contests, it's the internet.. how's that, throw some hate my way, everyone has their own personal battle and us females no matter what get shoveled way more shit then men on here, but power in numbers

Aloneness: Being At Peace With yourself within the existence. Knowing that being alone can open you up to a world of magic + wonder..
Itโs easy to feel alone when our own existence is not enough. There is much more that meets the eye when we look into the mirror , a great meditation of beauty.

A great post with such a positive message
I am the same for the homeless Unfortunatly often some are scammers and not homeless so I do not give money, but I do quite often dot he same as you ask what they need, sometimes Iget snarky responses saying they just want money, those I will walk away from, but for those who ask for food I may get them a Burger or somehting if near a deli, and I have as you did picked up basic hygiene supplies and handed them out often, those who do not appreciate it are clearly not really in need in my minds eye
Or they have sadly one thing on their mind (drugs).
Itโs such a hard one for me. Of course I want to give and help every down and out person I see.
But I wonder if giving is keeping them on the streets. I donโt know their story, I donโt know why they are there.
Yes that is always such a dilemma for sure and you can never be 100% sure
Great post and really inspiering. Look around is the way to live. Walk around with open eyes and see what happens around you, people in need or just people needing a smile or hug ๐คโค๏ธ

My mother works at the salvation army here and the other day we did a decorations tour were we drive homeless people to different places to se decorations and to choose a Christmas gift that we pay for so I drove 6 rounds and met amazing people and it takes so little but means the world ๐
