Colorchallenge Monday-Red-unknown plant

in #colorchallenge7 years ago

I shot this several years ago at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond, VA.

I don't know what kind of plant it is.

Leave a comment if you know what kind of plant this is.  Thanks!

It appears to be some kind of luscious rainforest plant, likely related to the pineapple and aloe plants.

I would place it somewhere in South America. But a simple Google search of "luscious rainforest plants" with maybe the qualifier "Red" added would potentially give you your answer.

After doing a little research, it appears to be some kind of Bromeliad. Though I can't determine the exact species.

that's a great flower I like it thanks a lot for sharing and keep on posting ;)

The flower is actually that colorless lump in the center of those red leaves. Lots of rainforest plants use large colorful leaves, instead of large colorful flowers, to attract pollinators, because large flowers would get torn apart with the constant pelting of rain.

What an amazing drawing! @mctiller

I think it is a photo, not a drawing :)

Amazing work! Just followed you! @mctiller

Looks incredible!
