To build wetlands, Louisiana’s largest sediment diversion would shock seafood communities

He said he feels as though the sparsely populated fishing communities of lower Plaquemines Parish, where the diversion is to be built, have been written off.

Interesting article about a fresh water diversion project planned for South Louisiana and the effects it might have on the fishing community down there. The quote above says it all, 'the sparsely populated fishing communities', the fact is there are few people that will be negatively effected by the diversion whereas it will benefit countless. No one said life is fair, those people will have to adjust. It's too important to save the coast and the wildlife that exists because of it, it would be a tragedy to let the wetlands of Louisiana wash away.

They should have never leveed up the River in the first place, they need to have breaks in it like nature intended.
