Garden Journal March 2019: The Growing of Money Plants @ Balcony （万年青盆栽成长过程）

Hello dear Steemians,

One year ago, I bought a small Money Plant in pot from nearby convenience shop. If not mistaken, I remember it was cost about S$1.90 per pot. It was a small plant with size about 20cm height and 15cm spread. The species name is Epipremnum aureum. After 2 months, I found it grown bigger. Due to the limited soil in that small pot, I decided to buy a bigger pot to transplant it.

一年前，我从附近的便利店买了一个小万年青。记得约1.90新元。它很小，大约20厘米高，15厘米宽。2个月后，我发现它变大了。由于那个小盆栽的土壤有限，我决定买一个大的盆栽来将它移植过去。

After transplanting to bigger pot, the plant leaves were turned yellow and getting smaller. I’m worried as I sensed it will die soon. I felt sad as I put lots of effort to taking care the plants regularly, but it was still not growing well.

Next day, I went to my mum house garden, she also has a well grown Money Plants. She advised me to cut some of her money plant stems and folk into my money plant pot.

移植到较大的盆栽后，植物叶子变黄而且变小，无论我加肥料和泥土，它还是变得越来越小。我很难过，因为我付出了很多努力和时间来照顾这棵万年青，但它很快将要死去。

第二天，我去了我妈妈家的花园，她有一颗长的很肥沃的万年青。她建议我剪一些万年青回去，加进现有的万年青盆栽，让它慢慢生长。

This was the pot after added my mum’s money plants with stem cutting technique and folk into it. The existing plant leaves were getting small and turned yellow.

One day, I changed my mind not to place it in my kitchen. I shifted it out to my front house balcony. The area has partial sunlight, rainfall and fresh air. And then, I continue putting lot’s effort to do watering and fertilising regularly.

这是我叉入妈妈的万年青后的盆栽。可以看到一些之前的万年青叶尖变黄又缩小的情况。

有一天，我突然改变主意不把万年青放在厨房里。我把它移去家门前的阳台。那里比较有阳光，淋得到雨，而且空气新鲜。然后，我继续付出和花时间来照顾它。

Within 2 weeks, the money plant was growing aggressively. The plant stems climbed up to the sticks. It seems like 2 phoenixes dancing in the pot.

在两周内，这颗万年青长的很快，变得很大，很肥沃。植物茎爬上了枝条。好像2只凤凰在跳舞！

I realised that the location to place a plant is very important. The balcony with partial sunlight and rainfall condition is an ideal place for the potted plants. Besides that, I did fertilizing once a month and topping up soilmix for planting when necessary.

我意识到放置植物的位置非常重要。阳光和雨量适中的阳台是种植植物的好地方。除此之外，每个月一次施肥，和有必要时加些植物混合土。

Another small tip to share with you. Watering can be done in morning or evening time by washed rice water. The potted plant will be more fertile and healthy. This is a traditional way that my mum taught me, you may wish to give it a try.

另外一个小提示和你分享。可以在早上或晚上用洗米的水来浇水。种的盆栽会更肥沃，更健康。这是妈妈教我的古方，你不妨试一试。

Currently the money plant is established very well. My neighbours always praise this money plant is looking good, very beautiful and fertile.

I like to experience by hands-on to grow a plant. So I can clearly understand how to grow and take care a plant, rather than just do the landscape design proposal based on my previous office projects working experience.

目前，万年青继续长得很好。邻居们都称赞这颗万年青长的非常美丽，肥沃。

我主要是想亲自体验如何种植植物。因此，我才会很清楚地了解如何种植和培植。而不是每次在做景观设计时，只是纸上谈兵，而没有真正了解植物的种植和培植过程。
