Up in my state (Washington), we had a similar episode w/tree-huggers. Our biggest fight wasn't necessarily over the trees themselves but the ominous "spotted owl." These whacko's, turned what used to be, the best producing and best managed, timber industries into a bureaucratic cluster-fuck. Oh yeah, and the spotted owl turns out, didn't even really require and "endangered" designation. They just mis-counted.....Good news is all the tough reg's that came from the Spotted Owl fiasco, are thankfully still in place. Just in case they need to designate another non-endangered species threatened, all while ignoring the negative human effect....
