The Litmus Test of Their Faith

1 Thessalonians 3:5-8 (KJV)
For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.
But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:
Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:
For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.

Paul’s concern for the believers in Thessalonica was for their faith. He wondered if the enemy had tempted them so that his labor among them had been fruitless. His concern was spiritual to the core but the litmus test was their relationship towards him.
Did they remember him fondly?
Did they desire to see him again?

Paul would know that their faith remained sound by their thoughts toward him.

Apostle John said that a person who quits never was one of the body. It matters not what they say about God or about their previous actions. If they can leave without repenting and returning they were always wolves in sheep’s clothing.

To my readers:
First of all, thank you! It is a great joy to me to know you read the thoughts and lessons God has given me in His word.
Secondly, I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to leave comments.

Wolves in sheep’s clothing.....I can imagine there are a few of them out there in the churches today!

Reminds me of Jude 1:4 - "For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ."
