Ignorance
2 Peter 3:5-6 (KJV)
For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
This sounds like it was hand written for our day. This world is not ignorant but willingly ignorant of those things that are key to life and godliness:
Creation
The Flood
Judgment of God
These simple but foundational principles have been passed down almost inherently in our genes. We know them to be true because:
We have the Word of God
We have the witness of the Holy Spirit
We have placed within us the consciousness of this truth
Those who reject the Lord do so willingly, consciously. They design schemes to replace what they inherently know to be true. They build walls to remove themselves from those who speak the truth. They set up heroes to trust in rather than the truth. Our modern educational system leads the way in this willing ignorance. It is advanced through science. It is lauded in the arts.
Those who know the truth choose to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ instead.

Romans 1:20-25
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. 24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever.
