My Thoughts On Why Destitution Is Common Among Christains Part 1

in #christian-trail6 years ago

When it comes to religion, Christianity happens to be one of the most populated. It has its roots deepened in most countries and I am happy to be a part of this religion not for it’s popularity but for what it teaches through the holy Bible.

In spite of the amazing teachings about health, patience, loyalty, honesty, wealth and so much more, many Christians today seem to have fallen back when the issue of wealth is brought up. They may claim money is not everything but yet they pray for better jobs and salary increment daily. To be, that is hypocrisy at its peak and it is time for the issue to be addressed.
Bishop Tudor Bismarck once said “prayer is not in the success equation. Prayer is in the revelation equation. Decision making is in the success equation. To be successful, one must make a decision and be sound about it.” There are oodles of reasons why most Christians find it hard to afford quality healthcare, education and almost all the best life has to offer and I am going to elaborate on a few.

  1. Fake Prophets

There is a big difference between the ability to influence people and spreading the gospel. Most people nowadays use their ability to influence people to mislead them. It is made possible because of own selfish desires. I don’t know about how Christianity is functioning in the Western world but here in West-Africa, people are being robbed of their time, talent and money all because they want things to go well for them now. Most Christians in my country specifically have lost their core values and that makes it easier for these fake prophets to take advantage of them. My question is what happened to the spreading of the word to all corners of the world as our main motive? It becomes more depressing when these people bring up their children in these false beliefs.

This is all done mainly for wealth and that is where they are wrong. Wealth creation takes planning, action, patience and repetition and these all come together to form one word which almost every poor person hates and that is WORK. Most people hate to wait but the truth is there is far more joy in the process than there is in the outcome. As Christians, I believe it is time we took another approach towards wealth creation other than pondering to every whim of these fake prophets. Not only is it time wasting but also disgraceful to what we claim to stand for.

I will be looking forward to the next reasons, @kwakumax. I have a lot to say about this too, being a Christian. But let me focus my thoughts on your first reason: Fake Prophets.

It's true, perhaps why people succumb to these fake prophets is their core values are weak, or shall I say they are weak within. That's why they are looking for strength. And it just happens that these fake prophets take advantage of that weakness, and the weak think of these fake prophets as their strength and the ones sent by God, when it fact they are not - never!

These weak people, because of their weakness, look impatiently for strength, for security, for comfort, for salvation - which they think can be served to them by these fake prophets, if they just give a portion of their money, and lots of their time. And of course, the fake prophets rejoice - they have used their charisma and flowery, "assuring" words to make money - lots of it!

I know many people who succumb to these fake prophets, and of course, I do my best to educate them of the right way;

that salvation or your place in Heaven is not served and guaranteed by any church or any religious leader; that it all starts with YOU, your love for God, your love for the life He has given, and for your love for His people - your fellowmen;

that following any church or any religious leader will not make your destitute life (whatever it means - financially or spiritually) full and rich in an instant; it still depends on YOU - how hard and wise you work, how you use the talents God has given you, how you perceive wealth and success in life, how you make the most out of life;

that the grace of God is not dependent on any church or any religious leader; it is bestowed by God on you, whoever you are, and whatever you do. God, the real God, is a loving and merciful God. He will always make a place in Heaven for everybody who keeps His topmost commandment: Love one another, as He has loved us.

For me, our relationship with God is more of a personal one than a collective one. The church helps us understand God and His teachings, and live by them, but in the end, it all depends on our relationship with God, and how we have strengthened that relationship with how we do our duties as part of his creation, as a fellow to His people.

This part has made my day

that salvation or your place in Heaven is not served and guaranteed by any church or any religious leader; that it all starts with YOU, your love for God, your love for the life He has given, and for your love for His people - your fellowmen;

Thank you so much for your inspiring comment. I wish most people could see this. In fact, i am going to copy this whole comment and make a full blown post with it. A hug @bikerkiddo

religion is something you have within yourself, No one religon has it right as they all teach us the same basic principles. All of our spiritual persuits are often skewed by Ego which clouds the road ahead.

I think it is good some people find solace and strength in religion but I don't think its good to rely on religon as the key to a happy successful life.

Happiness has always been an inside job as least for me thus if i accept who i am, that is when happiness prevails. To add to your point, religion also instills some sort of discipline which is one reason why I fell in love with Christianity but off late, that seems to be going south.

What a beautiful write-up. Honestly, ever since I heard those words of Bishop Tudor Bismarck, I understood better that christians need to be more pragmatic.
Sadly, the reverse is the case, most of us pray all day without doing something pragmatic about our dreams and life goals for one second. This sounds like an hyperbole, right? But the truth outweigh the exaggeration.
Thanks for sharing @kwakumax.
Kind regards.

I am glad a fellow Christians sees my point. Thanks @degreatmyke for passing by

@kwakumax Pls read my story Jesus is coming

you may be right, but as i have seen in my country christians are usually wealthy.

They are very polite and helpful even to the people of other religion... May be in some country their standard of living is not par with others. But this doesn't apply to every countries.

Thanking you @saswat036

That's good to know. i wish most Christians in my country would learn a thing or two from yours.
