The Accuser: The enemy preys on the weak

The other day a sister in Messiah said something that seemed all too familiar to me. She had spoken with one of the teenagers in the church and asked this individual what they really thought about church. The teen told her that it was “just church.” She said, “Well, what do you mean”? The teen began to tell her that the church is a façade. She continued by saying that the church is full of hypocrites and fake people. I felt uncomfortable when I heard this. I knew at that moment that the teenager was dangerously close to the edge and the church was responsible for it.

I am all too familiar with viewing the church as a gathering of hypocrites who join in blindness with one another. In my life, up until the day the Master called me into the Kingdom, I despised the church and its people with a consuming hatred. Pulling spiritually weak people away from the church did not seem like a difficult thing for me to do. Actually, I saw it as liberating them from an oppressive alien religion that destroys and lies to its people. Teenagers and adults who believe in spirituality, but have no relationship with Y’shua are targets for the enemy’s tricks.

I, and many of like mind, would take advantage of teenagers like the one I am speaking about and introduce to them something that seemed more “real” than Christianity. We would bring to them the “gift” of self-worship and tell them that the Bibles absolutes are oppressive. We would introduce to them their own reasoning as superior in comparison to the authority of Gods word. We would use an individual’s ethnic culture and traditions to turn them away from the things of God as well.

By educating them on the Pagan history of their culture, heritage, and traditions we could draw them back to ancestor worship and reintroduce them to the gods and goddesses of their ancestors. We would also uncover to them the “dark side” of Christian history, which seemed to work very well in causing them to doubt the authenticity of their “religion”. We were accusers of the brethren and we were good at it. We would ask questions that the average professing Christian had trouble answering, such as, “How could a God so loving allow such death and chaos to happen in the world”? Basic stuff!

Personally, the one I enjoyed the most was poking some big holes in the denominational problem. I would point out to the person that though all these denominations call themselves Christians there seems to be a lack of cohesion between them based on their “interpretation” of the Word of God. It would cause them to doubt the authenticity of the scriptures. Why? Because they lacked faith and were biblically illiterate. It was easy. These methods worked for me and they are working now by others still walking in darkness. Should we be concerned?

As a parent, I would be very concerned that someone like my old self is creeping around like a recruiter for the enemy. I am telling the truth; it is very easy to take someone who is lacking in an intimate relationship with Messiah and put the bait of Paganism and New Age under his or her nose. Those who begin to question the faith and doubt certain things in the Kingdom are subject to slipping back into darkness (that is if they were ever free from it to begin with).

The spiritually mature within the body of Messiah must make it a priority to teach and mentor our youth and those new to the faith. They must be made aware that there are “doctrines of devils” and Paganistic worldviews that are extremely detrimental to their spiritual growth and unity in Messiah. Parents have to pay attention to what their children are doing and to whom they are talking. I personally feel that parents and guardians need to learn about paganism, the occult, and other spiritually unhealthy beliefs and practices so they can recognize it when it shows its face. We have to be ready for battle at all times and the best way to do that is to know the enemy’s tactics.

Don't just be a believer! Be a disciple and follower of Y'shua!
